Iraq Mission

Iraq Mission – 2009/2010

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I do not often ask for help in a financial sense, but I have been presented with a very unique opportunity. I have been invited to minister to the troops in Iraq and could possibly have access to several bases while there. The reason the government is not willing to help pay my way is because government money cannot be used unless I agree to not refer to any deity by name. Reality is I would lose government funding within the first 60 seconds of sharing because I MUST proclaim the name of Jesus…thus, I am asking you to help get me there and back. I would also like to take an assistant (my pastor, Kevin Jones) to help with lyric presentation and any other technical things that might come up. As of yet, we do not have a date set…but we need to raise the funds and be ready when the window of opportunity arises!

I received the note from my contact in Iraq just today:

Dennis,
I am on a large base in western Iraq that the head chaplain here tells me has approximately 5000 Christians.  The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) people bring in entertainment from time to time...mostly NFL cheerleaders, comedians, and bands, but nothing that reaches to the Christian population.  Two weeks ago we had something like an old fashioned revival.  My vision would be to follow that up with a time that encourages people in their faith and strengthens the new believers.  After a few days here, I would love to try to get you around to the other bases in the area for a night of praise, but of course it all depends on getting theater clearance.

Thanks,

M

We are working on my paperwork as I write this to you. My heart says ‘go’ and I believe the Spirit says ‘go’. I feel very compelled to minister there…have for several years. Here is my vision in a nutshell:

Proclaim freedom in Jesus and lift up Christ while ministering to the deepest needs of our men and women in uniform. I would also like to put a ministry CD designed specifically for our military personnel in the hand of every man and woman I minister to while there.

Would you consider helping me and my pastor get there and back? If you are led to give, please go to www.dennisjernigan.com and click on the ‘Support DJ’ button and then simply send us an email telling us that the money you donated is for the ‘Iraq Mission’. All money donated will go strictly toward this mission. If you need tax credit for your donation, simply send a check to:

I am so excited about this opportunity. We have friends in Iraq and Afghanistan and they would be soooo blessed by your ministry! I will pray and give, and encourage others to do the same.

Dennis,
i definately would love to give to be able to help send you over to Iraq, your music has been so much of a God send to me and many of my friends who i continue to give your cd's to, in fact it's hard for me to keep them for myself, so i have to keep ordering more of your cd's. i know the troups over there need to hear the message of God's love and intimacy. God bless you and what ever God has in store for you. i will be able to give, but not at this time, but soon. Kim Snyder
