To Start the Day

Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
Surely my soul remembers And is bowed down within me.
This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.
The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.
{They} are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
"The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I have hope in Him."

- Lamentations 3:19-24 NASB

I had set my alarm for 9:30 AM (late night…don’t ask!) and, of course, woke up wide awake at 7:30 AM with a sense of excitement. I am accustomed to the Lord rousing me early and when He does I am very expectant of what He has in mind. This day was like that. The day before I had battled a lot of the Enemy’s lies but had received much encouragement from the Word and from other believers…and had spent time playing cards with my boys…and then went to a very late showing of Despereaux…meaning I went to bed with a light and restful heart. As I waited on the Lord I focused with this prayer, ‘Lord, fill me with wonder.’ Sitting down at my piano in the barn, I began to sing a simple hymn of praise that I assumed would utilize the words of my prayer, God surprised me…and in that moment of feeling wonderfully sidetracked by the Holy Spirit, all I could sing of was the faithfulness of God…and a song called ‘You Are Faithful’ was born. Pretty cool way to start the day…
