Next Generation Creative Institute

What is the next Generation Creative Institute? The NGCI is a gathering in the home of worship leader, song receiver, author, and freedom fighter Dennis Jernigan and his amazing wife, Melinda. Whether you are a worship leader, songwriter, author, or someone who simply needs intense rest or emotional healing, the NGCI may be just what the Doctor (Great Physician) ordered!

Each gathering is quite unique…a group of people from all over the US whom the Lord brings together, the NGCI began as a desire on the part of the Jernigans to invest in the lives of others from the blessings the Lord has given them. Dennis and Melinda believe that when people are given the freedom to get honest in a safe environment – whether the confession of sin, hurts, or simply have questions as to how to lead worship or write a song or minister to another – people will find hope and healing and a greater understanding of their identity in Christ.

NGCI is, simply put, a place to find answers. Whether you are songwriter or worship leader, whether you are a pastor or a layman, whether you struggle with debilitating sin or have experienced freedom, Dennis and Melinda find that when people are given a safe place to seek God in honesty that freedom is the result…and when people are led to freedom, they will worship.

The Jernigans simply provide an honest atmosphere – in their living room - where love is the rule and Jesus reigns…where identity in Christ is expressed and experienced…and worship is intense and personal. Doesn’t that sound good?

Here’s what people are saying about the NGCI:

“This was such a unique and amazing opportunity to sit and soak up what the Father has taught Dennis and Melinda. They so freely poured into our lives things that God has poured into them. No conference can offer what the Next Generation Creative Institute can - an opportunity to be influenced by some of the greatest worshippers of our time in their own home. As a worship leader, you do not want to let this opportunity pass. If you go, you will leave a better worshipper, and therefore, a better leader.”

JT, Lebanon, MO

"For me it was like walking into Psalm 42, with deep calling to deep and the waves of God's presence just roaring and crashing over us.  Simply a wonderful time of worship and rest, of friendship and laughter, of healing and hope and deep ministry for everyone who was there!"

Eric Reiss, Worship Leader, Northern Virginia

“NGCI was a unique, genuine, spirit-filled, divine appointment and a highlight on my creative journey. How edifying to be with brothers and sisters of like precious faith not bound by denominational labels. We were more than two or three and boy did He show up. Can’t wait for next year!”
Christina Howell, Midland, TX

“I couldn't help but smile as I drove to your house, realizing that you were going to lead us in a personal time of worship, right there in your living room. Then God blew me away during worship with His goodness (I've never used so many Kleenex in my life!). I drove away refreshed and ready to go back into ministry again.”

Eric Elder, Illinois

Invite Me to Minister

Next Generation Creative Institute

I would like to personally invite you to be a part of the NGCI, which will be held in my home June 24-26, 2011. These are times of rich ministry and fellowship, full of encouragement and insight from not just my perspective but from all those who attend and share their hearts. If you are creative in any area, this weekend is for you. If you know of someone who would benefit from such a gathering, please consider sending them. This event is ideal for song writers, authors, ministers, worship leaders, worship team members, or those who simply need refreshment in their soul. For more information and to register, go to http://dennisjernigan.com/events/

I hope to see you there!

Exodus International

I recently sent out a newsletter asking for support for my ministry on the Board of Directors for Exodus International. I am happy to report to you that we received enough money to fly me to the next Board Meeting. Although we did not receive enough for Melinda to go with me, we consider the provision to be the Lord’s direction that it was to just be me to go…so we are VERY grateful to those who were able to give. You can still give to this ongoing ministry. To read the request and to find out how to take part, here is what I wrote a few weeks ago:

As you may or may not know, I serve on the Board of Directors for Exodus International, the world’s largest ministry to those who struggle with unwanted same sex attraction. Two times each year we meet together to oversee the workings of the ministry and to pray and offer advice. Throughout the course of each year, we are called on for advice and prayer quite often (as you might imagine) for this very crucial ministry. This is a non-paid position but one I gladly serve in due to the call of God on my life. I am often able to offset the cost of these board meetings by the opportunities I have to minister in the same area the meetings takes place. Our next meeting is in June (June 5-6) of this year and there are simply no ministry invitations in the area where we will be (Ridgecrest, NC). That being said, would you consider being a part of helping me perform this very important role in a very relevant, timely ministry by your financial support? If you would like to help, please simply click on the following link http://dennisjernigan.com/how-to-support-the-work-of-dennis-jernigan and follow the directions posted there. I would like to raise enough money to take Melinda with me as a part of my spiritual covering. The estimated cost is in the $2000 range. Any money given over this amount will go to other ministry opportunities such as our tentative plans to minister in Australia this coming summer.

Thank you for helping me set the captive free.

A New Novel by Dennis Jernigan

When I was growing up, the Lord used fantasy to minister to me…and to help keep me alive, literally. Each night in my dreams, I lived my dream-life on the USS Enterprise where my dad was Captain Kirk…really! Each night I was taken captive and just as it seemed I would be put to death, my dad would sweep into the dream and use his Phaser to destroy my captors and set me free. I awoke each morning feeling set free. Even though it was many years before I truly realized freedom in my soul, I can look back now and see how the Lord used those dreams to keep me hoping for freedom. As my children were growing up, I read the entire series of The Chronicles of Narnia to them and watched the Lord use these wonderful fantastical stories to build many aspects of faith and hope and creativity into their lives. A few years ago, the Lord began to inspire me to write my own series of adventures with my future grandchildren in mind. Over a two-year period I have completed the first book in the series and have begun work on the next…and I am happy to report to you that publishing house Stonehouse Ink has taken the book for publication and will issue it soon as an eBook! If the book sells 300 copies per month for at least three months they will then publish it in physical book form! The first book is called The Chronicles of Bren: Captured and is actually based on my life as a boy.

The Chronicles of Bren: Captured is the beginning story in the saga of one boy’s journey to manhood. Young teen, Lee Jennings, bullied constantly by local boys, suddenly finds himself transported into a world of fantasy and adventure…and plunged into a whole new identity as the son of a king! How he traverses this new world and endures captivity at the hands of the realm’s resident evil lord is also the journey of self-discovery that will one day serve Lee in his adult life. Full of fantastic beings and magical creatures from this new dimension and wrought with many twists and turns, Captured is just the beginning for Lee Jennings…and is designed to be an adventurously entertaining ride for readers of all ages.

As soon as the book is released I will tell you about it. My vision is that it would inspire not just generations of young men to fight for their identity as men but that people of all ages would be inspired to settle for nothing less than God’s best for their lives. Please join me in asking the Lord to send this work far and wide…and also pray for me for creativity as I plunge back into this new world the Lord has allowed me to create as I work on the second book.

Invite Me to Minister

I am always amazed when people ask me if I would ever consider coming to minister to their church or group. Simply put, you have not because you ask not, lol! My desire is to minister as the Lord leads. I know it is difficult for many groups to afford to fly me into their area during this time of economic difficulty, so I am trying to see from the Lord’s perspective on this. During this season – since not many can afford such an undertaking – perhaps the Lord wants me to minister within driving distance of my home. If you are within a 5-hour driving range of Muskogee, OK and you have always wondered whether I would come and minister in a small church, you will never know unless you ask. Call Glory Thompson at 918-685-2268 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We recently held our third NGCI in our home and were, once again, amazed at the unique ways each of these weekends unfolds. As varied as the people who gather, the workings of the Holy Spirit continue to inspire me to hold these NGCI events. If you are creatively minded, whether you are a musician or not, these encounters are proving to be of profound encouragement and inspiration to those who are able to attend. I urge you to consider being a part or, if you know of someone who would benefit from the next NGCI, consider providing someone with a scholarship to attend. If you know of an aspiring worship leader, songwriter, author, praise team member, musician, or minister who would benefit from the NGCI, please consider helping them get here! For details and to register, go to http://dennisjernigan.com/events/ and scroll down to the NGCI info.

I hope to see you there!
