A song written by Dennis Jernigan for his daughter, Raina Joy. From a daddy for his little girl..
Song History:
December 14, 1992
Isaiah 55:10-11; John 4:10
During the summer of 1992, Oklahoma experienced a period of 28 straight days with rainfall somewhere in the state. It just so happened (a holy coincidence) that I was in the process of recording an album called Let It Rain. God used those days of downpour to inspire one of the favorite memories of my life as well as the name of our little girl, Raina Joy. After the summer was over, the rain ceased and we went for quite awhile without rain. It was during this period of time that Raina came into our lives. In the early morning hours of October 24, 1992 the tain once again began to fall for a period of 30 minutes, during which time, Raina Joy Jernigan was born! I have friends who are meteorologists (Billy & Renee McPherson) who confirmed that over Oklahoma City during that time, there was a 20 square mile area of rain...and our house was right in the big middle of it! Her name was suggested by a friend, Doug Hinkle, and it was obvious to all that Raina's birth was indeed a reason for great joy...and that God had truly rained into our lives with the precious little girl we call Raina Joy Jernigan. For Raina Joy Jernigan in celebration of her first Christmas with us. I love you, Raina...
