As I rose this morning and looked out onto the grandeur of God’s majesty surrounding the cabin I was staying in, I felt an overwhelming sense of God’s ‘sealing’ presence in my life. As a boy I remembered the many insecurities of my existence that were born out of my very real need to feel safe and secure. Because of my hidden sin I felt very unlovable and unworthy of anyone’s attention. When the Lord set me free I began to experience God’s love and acceptance and affirmation in ways that set me free beyond my wildest dreams. Because of the work of the cross I am signed, sealed, delivered, HIS! This song began to be birthed as I meditated on just how bound to God I am. As bound as I used to be to my sin, I am utterly and irrevocably sealed by the love of God!
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or
nakedness or danger or sword?
As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
