Words: adapted by Galen Jernigan from a poem by Elizabeth ‘Gram’ Gipson
Music: Galen Jernigan
When I was a little girl many years ago
My sisters and I and also brothers
Sometimes many others
We’d play hide and seek around the house
And sometimes down the creek
We did our chores and had lots of fun
Running races and sometimes I won
I was a little girl but now I’m grown
And what I’ve learned is love, sweet love
When I was little girl many years ago
My sisters and I and also brothers
Sometimes many others
We’d play hide and seek around the house
Sometimes down the creek we’d play
We girls washed the supper dishes
While the boys laughed and teased us
They teased us
Much against our wishes
We washed the dishes b
But now as I look back all I remember
My sisters and I and also brothers
Sometimes many others
We’d play hide and seek around the house
Sometimes down the creek we’d play
