Song History
The Sleeping Giant represents many things in my life. He represents hope and healing and my need for a hero when I was a boy. Nothing has changed. I still need those things! As with the Sleeping Giant, hope is always there – whether we see it or not. My personal belief is that we are all here for a purpose and that there is Someone greater than ourselves out there Who has made us. Life is best spent pursuing to know the One Who put us here in the first place! Just because I could not see hope as a little boy does not mean that hope was not there all along. As I got older I could look back on my life and see that somehow, someway, Someone always got me through! If you need hope or direction, it is there. You just have to seek it. When you seek it you will find it – so seek with all your heart!

Verse
I see him lying there
This sleeping giant
Reuben from the days of old
I wish he would spring up
Onto his feet alive
And free the land of evil’s hold.
But it’s only just a dream
Like a story meant for children
Fairy tale and legend gone by
But it doesn’t hurt to dream if by dreaming
We believe in the hope of a rescued life!
Chorus
Reuben! Reuben!
Wake from your sleep!
Bren lies in darkness!
Hear how she weeps!
Reuben! Reuben!
We need a champion!
We need a hero!
Wake up from your ancient sleep!
Verse
If you can hear me now
We need your help, sir
Seems darkness rules the day
If you can hear me now
Wake from your slumber!
Drive the darkness far a-way!
But it’s only just a dream
Like a story meant for children
Fairy tale and legend gone by
But it doesn’t hurt to dream if by dreaming
We believe in the hope of a rescued life!
Chorus
Reuben! Reuben!
Wake from your sleep!
Bren lies in darkness!
Hear how she weeps!
Reuben! Reuben!
We need a champion!
We need a hero!
Wake up from your ancient sleep!
