MP3: Indescribable

Indescribable - Song History
Words & Music: Dennis Jernigan
Received on February 3, 2011

This song came in the midst of a horrible spiritual
battle. As one grows older, the enemy comes with a
whole new barrage of lies. This particular battle came
in the form of ‘you’re no longer relevant’, ‘you are a
dinosaur’, ‘you cannot compete with the younger
sound’, etc., etc., etc…and that was just from the
Christian side of things! To add fuel to the fire, I
received some very hurtful responses to my testimony.
While I expect the world to respond the way they do,
it still does not lessen the sting. And the older I get,
the longer it takes me to recover. More and more I
understand the sufferings and persecution Jesus
spoke of in relation to proclaiming the Gospel.
Whether my feelings immediately align with the
Truth or not, I always begin and end with the Truth.
God is good. God is in control. Whether I live or die,
I am His. I am His child and I am an overcomer.
That is all settled. This song came as a gift from the
Lord to get me through this battle…just a few days
before my 52nd birthday. I worship Him regardless of
how I feel and regardless of my circumstances.
Knowing Him is worth it all. Knowing Him to the
degree I do, I have come to realize I have merely
skimmed the surface of all He is. That is the basis
of this song. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit would
inspire you to know Him even more intimately as you
sing this song to Him.

…we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;
perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not
forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always
carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

2 Corinthians 4:8-10 NASB

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Just as it is written,
TO BE SLAUGHTERED." But in all these things we
overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things
to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any
other created thing, will be able to separate us from
the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:35-39 NASB

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
2 Corinthians 9:15 NASB

How can one word describe
Something indescribable?
How can one idea convey a thought beyond imagination?
How can one touch express
Something indefinable?
How can one simple step of faith
Bring me face to face with You?

You are indescribable!
Beyond imagination!
You are indefinable!
The God of all creation!
You can take impossible!
You can make it possible!
You are more to me!
More than eye can see!
Who am I be-fore You?
You alone have made me!
I worship and adore You!
You alone have saved me!
You are indefinable!
You are indescribable!
You alone!
You alone are God!

How is true love defined
But by the laying down of life?
Something too amazing
Far beyond my human comprehension!
How can one find  true life
Except to find it they must die?
I find it so amazing that a holy God would die
To bring redemption!
