Hallelujah!
WORDS & MUSIC

I absolutely love Christmas, yet I absolutely find it disheartening that the enemy has co-opted the meaning of Christmas as far away from reality as possible. As I was meditating on the real and true meaning of Christmas in early November of 2017, I began to thank God for the gifts given at the birth of Jesus. The gift of eternal life. The gift of resurrection power. The gift of intimacy with God through Emmanuel! As I pondered such things I could not help but begin to sing the word 'Hallelujah!' which means 'Praise the Lord!' Even though this word tends to lose its meaning if not focused on God and the reality of Jesus Christ, I chose to think about the meaning of the word and began to thank God for all He went through to purchase me and make me His own, beginning with the Gift of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords Who began His life in a stable. Jesus humbled Himself from the beginning on our behalf. Let us humble ourselves and worship Him for Who He is and for what that means to our very existence. May the Word ‘Hallelujah’ become more than an empty four syllable word used to fill musical space. May His praises rise up like gifts back to Him for His great sacrifice for us. Merry Christmas!

Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns."
