"Shout to the Lord" came to me on New Year's Eve, 1995. Each month we have a night of praise in Oklahoma City. This time of worship is one of the highlights of every month for me. Each New Year's Eve, we ring in the new year by worshiping through the midnight hour and into the first day of the new year. As I prepared for the celebration that day, God gave this song as an affirmation of who He is and of who we are in Him. For me, this song is a personal thank you to the Lord for the awesome year of blessing He gave me and my family in 1995, in spite of all the trials and heartache (and time spent in recovery for Melinda). I taught the song that night and was overwhelmed by the response of the people. May God bless you and affirm you as you exalt Him with these words!
