Well Done - Song History

Four years ago, I had the privilege of being
invited to lead worship for the Prayer
Service for the Inaugurationof Oklahoma’s
very first female governor, Mary Fallin.
A few days before that event, the Lord
gave me a song for her called Rise Up.
A couple of weeks before her second
inauguration (four years later), I was once
again asked to lead worship. Because I
was just beginning a fast from food and
from negative wordsduring the time
of that invitation, I began seeking
God as to what songs He would have me
lead in on that day. All I heard was the
phrase ‘well done’. As I sought the Lord
for what that meant, I came to the realization
that this was to be a song of blessing
and affirmation to those on the front lines
of leadership -whether seen or unseen
leadership. Far too often, those in leadership
go through tremendous stress whether
deserved or not. In our political climate,
I hear more tearing down than building up.
This song is meant to build up. Not only is
it meant to encourage my governor,
it is meant as an encouragement to the
body of Christ around the world...especially
those who serve without notice, laying down
their very lives for the sake of the Gospel.
Use it to bless those who go, far too
often, without recognition.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Proverbs 18:21 NASB
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is
honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence and if anything worthy
of praise, dwell on these things.
Philippians 4:8 NASB
Verse
For all the battles fought for us we never see
For all the heartache
All the sorrow all the grief
For all the lonely times that you have ever seen - Well done!
For all the hours fighting for us you have borne
For standing faithfully
Through the midst of every storm
For standing gracefully
Through both compliment and scorn
Well done! Well done!
Chorus
Well done, good and faithful servant
Well done, good and faithful friend
Well done! Well done! Well done!
Well done, good servant! Faithful one!
Well done, your sacrifice!
Well done, this race that you have run!
For laying down your life, Well done!
Well done! Well done!
Verse
For all the moments when you could have given up
For seeking Jesus
Finding grace more than enough
For leading boldly
Grounding all you do in love
Well done! Well done!
Chorus
Bridge
You have gone to battle for us!
Carried such a heavy load!
Facing giants, taking arrows
Sometimes all alone!
You have laid your life down for us
Walking such a lonely road!
We are grateful for your service and we want you to know!
