This song was born out of much pain and suffering, both physical and emotional. Almost 8 weeks after having undergone total knee replacement for the second time (my grandchildren called my post-surgery leg grandpa’s robot leg!), I knew what to expect to a certain degree. Little was I prepared for the physical loss of my voice on top of the emotional stress involved in the post-surgery therapy. Having gone through the process of therapy before, I was a good patient and was very disciplined in my daily routine, but when my voice was long in returning, I will be honest and tell you it caused fear. On top of this, my stamina as a whole was a long time in returning (and even as I write this, I am not back to 100% in the area of my physical strength and stamina). As if that were not enough, my right arm has begun having muscle spasms, once again inducing fear. I know my body is aging, but that is nothing to fear. I feel the arm thing and the vocal thing are attacks of the enemy to try and silence me, to cause me to waver in my faith. This song came as a result of my resolve to encourage myself in the Lord in spite of my circumstances and in spite of my physical frailties and in spite of the lies of the enemy. I stand on Solid Ground. His name is Jesus!
