Regalion’s Song

Song History

Regalion represents regrets of life. Things I wish I’d said. Things I wish I’d done. Things I wish I could undo. Reality is we cannot ever change our past. We can only move on. When Regalion seeks the forgiveness of his son, Lucian, I felt the book was complete…because seeking forgiveness goes deeper than simply saying one is sorry. One can say they are sorry about their attitudes or actions all day long and never take responsibility for them or make restitution. True forgiveness tears down barriers between people. It is better to take responsibility for our own attitudes and actions than to blame others. As long as we are not willing to make things right our relationships will always suffer. We can wallow in self-pity and stay wounded or we can take responsibility for our own lives and find hope and healing. Which sounds like the better way to live to you? Even our greatest regrets can be seen as stepping-stones to greater wisdom.

Verse

I thought I had been forgotten

Would never be seen again

So long in this dark dungeon

Most thought I’d come to the end

Betrayed and then belittled

But I was merely a fool

Replacing love with status

Rubbish in place of a jewel

And then I see you and the damage I’ve done

I was so wrong!

Will you forgive me, my son?

Chorus

I can see a little light somewhere in the distance

Somewhere in forgiveness the answer will be known

I can see a little light just there on the horizon

Now I’m realizing I’m not that far from home!

Just to be known by you!

To be loved by you!

Just to be seen right through!

I am home!

Verse

At times life can be a battle

Relationship like a war

Selfishly fought for myself

But what was I fighting for?

This is no way to live life

On top, but what have I gained?

I, by my selfishness, drive what is most precious a-way?

And then I see you and the damage I’ve done

I was so wrong!

Will you forgive me, my son?

Chorus

I can see a little light somewhere in the distance

Somewhere in forgiveness the answer will be known

I can see a little light just there on the horizon

Now I’m realizing I’m not that far from home!

Just to be known by you!

To be loved by you!

Just to be seen right through!

I am home!
