I first met my friend, John Levens, during the recording of my album, Celebrate Living (which we affectionately call Celebrate Levens because of his many “scenes’ in the video). My first impression of him was that he was a man of passion, and I was right. As I have talked with John over the years and have ministered with him many times, I have been both challenged and inspired to greater depths of intimacy with Christ, as well as developing a burning passion to see other come to know Him as well. This song came easily as I thought of how much John love Jesus (John was forgiven much so he loves much). As I thought of the great passion John has for Christ, I was overwhelmed with the fact that even our greatest passion for Christ is overshadowed by Christ’s own deep passion for us. His passion led Him to lay down His life for me. He was obsessed (single-minded) in His quest to purchase me. He wanted to know me more that I wanted to know Him! Of all the songs my Father has given me over the years, this song is one of the favorites of my heart. Use it to express God’s deep passion and jealous love for those you lead.
