Meditate
As a cow chews the grass and swallows, the process of gaining all the nutrients from that bite are far from complete. That same food is brought up later (called cud) to be chewed on again and again and again. Why? To gain the most nutrients possible from that morsel. Meditating on God’s Word is like that. We memorize it and put it in the stomach of our heart…and bring it up to chew on again and again and again. Many songs are born out of the Word of God on that second or third – or forty-fifth! – chewing of that Word. Meditate often and see what is born. Here’s a verse to begin with:
Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy.
Though I fall I will rise;
Though I dwell in darkness, the LORD is a light for me.
Micah 7:8 NASB
